Grafia promotes the Finnish visual communication design and advocates its members' interests. The most common professional title for Grafia members is graphic designer, but the membership covers the entire field of visual communication and creative design.

Grafia offers its members a professional community, advice and legal assistance.
- Vuoden Huiput – The Best of Finnish Creative Design competition since 1980
- Huiput Creative Festival
- organises other small and big events and training
- allocates annually over €100,000 of copyright remunerations as grants
- publishes the Grafia magazine highlighting important industry phenomena and people and weekly newsletter for members
- Graphic Designer of the Year award
- Rudolf Koivu prize every second year (10 000 €)
- publishes an annual industry study
- promotes better ways to acquire and buy design
- operates in international networks
